Family Chat — Setup & FAQ
Private chat for your CareCircle with optional quick live check-ins. No ads, no resale of data. Simple, family-first controls.
How it works (simple)
- Open Chat: Admin → Chat. Pick Family room (everyone) or Direct message (one person).
- Type & send: messages appear instantly for your Circle. (If offline, they’ll send when you reconnect.)
- Live check-ins (optional): use the quick ping to confirm someone’s OK without starting a full conversation.
- History: Free keeps a short local history; paid plans keep more (server-backed).
- Privacy: Family-only by default. No advertising, no resale.
Plan limits
- Free: Family room chat, short local history (per device), basic live check-in.
- Lite: Family room + direct messages, server history (standard window).
- Elite: Family room + direct messages, longer history, priority delivery window for live check-ins.
What we record / What we never collect
What we record
- Message text, sender, recipient (for DMs), and timestamp
- Channel (Family room or Direct message)
- Delivery status (sent, delivered); short local cache on your device
- Live check-in events (who pinged whom, and when)
What we never collect
- No keystrokes, browsing history, or passwords
- No advertising trackers; no data resale
- No background device recording or monitoring
- No face-tagging or hidden AI scanning
Privacy & safety tips
- Be transparent: explain how Family room vs DMs work and who can see what.
- Use the minimum needed: prefer short, helpful messages; clean up old threads.
- Parents control: all data stays inside your Circle; no ads or resale.
- Notifications: allow notifications for timely alerts; disable if distracting.
Troubleshooting
- Can’t send? Check you’re signed in and have internet. Try refreshing the page.
- DM recipient missing? Make sure the person is added to your Circle (Owner/Family/Child).
- Messages don’t appear on another device? Ask them to open Admin → Chat and confirm they’re in the same Circle account.
- Timestamps look odd? Sync device time settings (automatic / network time).
- Notifications quiet? Check system notification permissions and battery saver modes.
